My name is Krista, I am the founder and floral designer at The Gathered Stem. I specialize in bespoke floral creations that blend elevated design with a naturally gathered aesthetic. I believe in creating floral designs that stir your emotions and captivate your curiosity.
I find peace and calm when surrounded by beauty…a thoughtfully designed interior space, a masterfully performed symphony, or a manicured garden in bloom. There is something about the beautiful that draws us in and makes us want to linger. I first began to learn the craft of floral arrangement through my own garden planting. I learned that by planting flowers alongside the vegetable plants the hard work of the garden became a place of beauty and calm. And what a benefit there is to then be able to pluck the blooms and arrange them to brighten the inside my home as well.
I have always been an artist, but for many years my profession was in the corporate business world. While this work was rewarding for a season, the time had come for me to pursue my love of beauty and design and put my creativity and artistry to good use. An opportunity presented to design & decorate a few weddings, this turned into a passion and “The Gathered Stem” was born.

OUr Design
Approach
At The Gathered Stem we are inspired by the beauty of creation in its most natural form. It is our intention to approach floral design with the same organic and natural feel. We love pairing refined blooms with more humble, textural elements to create arrangements that make you feel like the flowers always lived there, beautiful and free in the environment in which they are displayed. We believe that God’s creation is a gift for us to enjoy and that we are to tend responsibly to the resources we have been given. Therefore, we strive to source as many of our blooms from local farms as possible and to constrain our sourcing and designs to sustainable means. In order to do this each design is guided by the availability of blooms for each season.
our neighborhood
Nestled in a small town in Northeastern New York The Gathered Stem is centrally located with the St. Lawrence Seaway to the north and the beautiful Adirondack Mountains to the south. Just a few miles from our doorstep are small scale flower farmers that offer local blooms during the months of May-October.
We are proud to service the towns of Potsdam, Plattsburg, Lake Placid, and everywhere in between.
